Oh, a Britpop night in Sydney? Cool

Remember walking down King Street in Newtown one day and realising there’s suddenly quite a lot of Thai restaurants?

Or walking down that same street and wondering why frozen yoghurt places are everywhere?

It’s a chain reaction. Something good starts and then all bandwagoneers wants to ‘ave a bloody go at it.
Club nights in Sydney are no different, it seems. I wonder if there’s a place where I can hear a bit of Arctic Monkeys or Oasis and have the club named after a song in the genre?

Well.

Good times. Real diversity there.

From here on in Fools Gold is going genreless and playing ALL THINGS BRITISH.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery it’s only a matter of time before the aforementioned clurbz do the same.

FOOLS GOLD: Playing the best of British, since 2007.

Our favourite new band: Omni

Now that us here at the ‘Scene are old we don’t get out much, we mostly sit on our porch and whittle whilst telling the young’uns what growing up in the 90s was like. We certainly don’t care that King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard released 32 albums this year and still have 54 to go.

But we do like Omni. Good ol’ angular no-wave postpunk straight outta Atlanta and fronted by former Deerhunter dude Frankie Broyles.

Their album Deluxe is out in July and get some Afterlife and Wire up ya. It’s the good shit.
