Ten Inspirations: The Fabergettes

In the second segment of our new feature we speak to Sydney’s (mainly) girl band The Fabergettes to see what inspires them. Nat Martin reveals, unsurprisingly, that it involves a lot of dancing.

1. Barbarella

If you haven’t seen this movie, watch it tonight. It’s like one awesomely-cosmic-loved up 90minute music video clip. Jane Fonda who plays Barbarella is smokin’ hot.
No wonder she sold so many aerobics video’s in the 80′s – I want legs like hers.

2. The 5 6 7 8′s – Woo Hoo

We cover this song in rehearsal. Sometime we get caught in a jamming loop and before we know it, we’ve been playing the 12 bar blues for 3 hours straight.

3. The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band

I like the bit where Ozzy Osbourne snorts ants. Now that’s rock and roll.

4. The Shangri Las – Walking In The Sand

This a favorite song of The Fabergettes. We did a cover of this song in rehearsal. It didn’t exactly resemble the original, but it was fun nonetheless. We wish we had seagull sound effects on stage…

5. Almost Famous

This scene always gets me. “Hold me closer Tony Danza…

6. Raquel Welch’s Space-Girl Dance

7. Babes In Toyland
These babes know what it’s all about. One day I want to be as intimidating as these girls.

8. The Knits

Our friends are a massive inspiration to us.  One of our BFF-Bands is The Knits.
Check out the hot bass player – that’s Bec Fabergette!

9. Little Lovers
Here’s our other Brother band: Little Lovers.
We dig their schtick big time. Go and see them for quality music and banter.

10. The B52’s – Rock Lobster

Finally, we couldn’t leave here without an excuse of listening to the B52′s.

One of the best songs ever written, Rock Lobster. The end.
