Weekly News Breakdown: 24th October 2011

So the unthinkable happened last week. Mani, Ian, John and Reni announced to the world that this is their Second Coming.

The Stone Roses are back. They’re not looking as good as they did in 1991 because drugs. Either way, Liam is stoked.

Apparently it was also ‘Pose with Mani Week’ on Facebook but I won’t go into that. Go see them in Manchester if the scalpers didn’t beat you to it. Oh what? Most scalpers are English anyway? So scalpers to an English band in England will do what?

LOLTENTHOUSANDPOUNDS

Early reports indicate that the Metallica / Lou Reed collab will be turkey of the year. Make your own mind up, listen to it here.
This is a rare instance where speculation will become fact.

What’s not a steaming pile of shit is that Leonard Cohen and Die Antwoord have new albums coming out next year. Sadly not a collaboration. Very sadly so. I’d pay good money to see that, almost ten thousand pounds. Zef.

Speaking of Die Antwoord, you’re quite aware they’re playing Future Music right? You know that Aphex Twin is playing too? You know where I’m going with this. Hey Richard D. James and Ninja, make that shit happen.

Did anyone notice that the Big Day Out hasn’t sold out yet? No, just me? Okay.

Harvest Festival is less than 3 weeks away. That Mogwai Sydney show still hasn’t been announced but I live in hope. Wanna work at Harvest for minimum wage in the hot sun and charge $10 for a mid strength beer? Of course you do! Apply here.
Just remember to go for an early break and then coveniently don’t come back. No one would ever do that.

And finally, can you believe that ten years ago this week the video game world changed as we know it? Grand Theft Auto 3 was released to critical and commerical success but of course a handful of bored housewives and Christian groups had their whinge. No one cared, GTA is still one of the most succesful franchises in gaming history. Celebrate by buying me this awesome limited edition collectable Claude. Only $150, order it here.

Another news breakdown comin’ atcha in a few days. Word.
