Weekly News Breakdown: 6 December 2011
So the Arias came and went and to no one’s surprise did it go blandly.
Of course a huge congrats to The Living End for winning Rock Album of the Year. Even better is when the dude stood on his double bass when they performed. NO WAY! Get out of here.
Boy and Bear were unknowns a year ago. Then outta nowhere they sell out the Enmore Theatre and win Album of the Year. They look every bit the rock star, especially that guy dressed in white. HE KNOWS HOW TO PARTY (and keep him away from children).
MIXTAPE MADNESS FOR Y’ALL!
As you may know Kurt Vile is in town. He made a little mixtape recently.
Battles and Les Savy Fav are playing ATP in England soon. An icy cold holiday resort in ol’ Blighty with other rad bands. Anyway, both bands have mixtapes to get the dental-hygiene-dodgers in the mood. Batlles here, Les Savy Fav here.
Remember when dubstep was a new thing? It’s a lot like nu metal really. The innovators will be remembered and the tryhards jumped on the bandwagon after it was too late.
Anyway, put your hands together coz Jonathan Davis said that they are the true originators of dubstep.
And you know what? It sounds just awful. Jonboy, it’s time to stop. You’re 40 years old. Go party with Jared Leto.
Christmas is coming up and the only thing I want (apart from a new Macbook and a kitty) is the T-Pain microphone.
It says “Transform your voice into T-Pain’s unique style of singing with just the press of a button!” which is great coz that’s what he does in real life innit! Only $40, this will be the gift that keeps on giving.
If you’re ever in Seatlle do be sure to visit the Jimi Hendrix Park.
KOMO News 4 reports that “The 2.5 acre park will likely include lyrical stepping stones, rain drums, a sculpted butterfly garden, performance area, sound garden and a green space.
SOUNDGARDEN, GEDDIT!
Speaking of Soundgarden their sideshows are $120…. Ouch. That rule of not going to the BDO may be broken. Yeezy sideshow tickets for the same price as a BDO ticket? Dang. Oh well, let’s wait until BDO week where we will find many people offloading $50 tickets.
And go see New Order at Future Music. Peter Hook will be too busy thinking of ways to pass himself off as legit to attend.
Coming up soon on The ‘Scene: Our Worst and Best albums of the year and we find out what inspires the groin-grabbingly-good Fabergettes.
