Weekly News Breakdown: 9th October 2011

Oh what? There was a festival lineup announcement on Friday? I didn’t realise, I guess social media failed to inform me.
But there it is, the 2012 Soundwave lineup. If I dyed my hair black and hung out at Club Blink I’d be beside myself. Let’s see who AJ Maddah can piss off now.

Still, THE BIZKIT IS COMING!

There appears to be whispers that Brian May wants a new singer for Queen. And who might that be? None other than Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, or as you and I know her – Lady Gaga. For real, at least if you believe the NME. And if you do believe the NME you really shouldn’t. Slim chances of any of this happening. Still, Brian May should sit on his big pile of cash and hang out with Dave Grohl. Please take note bands where your singer have died (with the exception of AC/DC): give up the band. Start a new band or whatever, but don’t replace the singer and fuck up the legacy that you created. Let. It. Go.

While we’re talking about terrible collaborations with band members that should give it up… Skrillex and members of The Doors are  doing something together. I… can’t deal. I know it’s for a documentary on pushing boundaries of collabations and stuff. But still. Just watch this.

Holy smokes! Blackstar is back! Mos Def and Talib Kweli has introduced Madlib into the mix and they premiered their new track ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ (hello Dizzee) on the Colbert Report. This shit is money.

I know you’re bummed that Steve Jobs has checked into that great big Genius Bar in the sky but at least you can console yourself with some of these thoughtful accessories to add to your iCollection. Here.
